Been here twice and the quality of the food has been incredible. Beautifully spiced and precisely cooked. Have had the hot pot, pork bao, mapo tofu and spinach so far and would recommend any of them.
Have eaten here twice now, and it's honestly my favorite Szechuan restaurant in the country. This is my favorite style of Chinese. I've had maybe 7 different things here this year and everything has been stellar.
Drinks leave something to be desired, but whatever... that's commen in Asian restaurants/Asia. Highly recommend this place
The fish soup dish is good but other than that, just felt like I was eating the chili spices putting together not the real food.
Even they have many spots open, we were led to be seated at a table facing the main entrance when during the winter time freezing wind came in all the time. However, obviously, you can always find that white people get the better spots. So We ended up giving 18% tip not 20% because the food is not great and the hidden discrimination underlying.
Stopped in on a whim, as I've passed by multiple times as it's been busy. It looks quite unassuming from the outside, but is definitely worth a stop in. We started with some dumplings, then ordered Mongolian beef and cumin lamb. Everything was cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. The Mongolian beef was mild, whereas my cumin lamb had the perfect amount of spice to it. We will absolutely be returning to try more of the menu.
Thanks!
I’m not sure if it was just the meal that I ordered, but my food was not that great. I went pretty basic and got sesame chicken, but the flavor of the chicken was just not there. The appetizers were fine and I honestly should have just stuck with them instead of getting a main course. I’m bummed because this place was recommended to me and ended up greatly disappointing me. I’m glad others had good meals here— it just didn’t happen to be mine.
Wonderful meal but SPICY!!! Our first date night after having our 3rd baby!
Normally, I have very good food /service here and this is my go to for Chinese carryout/delivery (even voted for them for The Reader best Lincoln Park Chinese) . However, last night's delivery of egg rolls (which were cold and soggy), kong pao beef (which was cold) and accompanying white rice (which was cold and dried out) was truly a disappointment and apparently had been sitting out for quite awhile and not in a hot bag to keep warm — this was the first time delivery of food was like this from them.
I immediately called the restaurant to discuss /let them know and their response is really the crux of the negative review. They weren't very interested in my complaint or offering an apology, saying that this is what can happen with an hour plus order / delivery and offered free egg rolls on next order.
I understand this occasionally occurs and was mostly looking for a explanation of what happened with order, an acknowledgment of my disappointment and an apology, or what it would take to make this right with me, which didn't happen.
We went for the Zhong dumplings but loved everything we tried! They do have a bar too, which is nice. The menu has a lot of spicy items, but I was there for that..
We split 2 entrees, a vegetable, and two orders of dumplings. Walked out stuffed and had plenty of leftovers.
